SOUTH AFRICA Garden Route is the most popular travel destination in South Africa. The stretch on the south-eastern coast of South Africa is packed with beautiful beaches, special nature and game parks. It has a lot to offer any tourist.
Last week the Norwegian travel reporters were invited to South African Embassy in Oslo. For me it was a good opportunity to take a walk down memory lane and relive my two month long visit to the country in 2010. This trip was such an eye opener for me, seeing the contrasts in living standards among the citizens of the country, from the extremely rich people in the hills of Cape Town, to the townships surrounding the cities. It changes you.
At the meeting last week the embassy told us Garden Route was the most popular destination in the vast country, a country that is four times the size of Norway. I also loved traveling this stretch. From Cape Town you can drive to Stellenbosch and visit vineyards, before you can continue down the beautiful Garden Route that starts in Mossel Bay. We continued all the way to Jeffreys Bay.
